2024 Minerva Award Winner

Future Faculty is proud to present the 2024 Minerva Award to Dr Laura Wisse, Associate Professor of Diagnostic Radiology at the Department of Clinical Sciences in Lund.

The Minerva award selection committee’s motivation for the choice is:

“Laura manages to do cutting edge research while uplifting everyone around her. Her students shared stories of how she would encourage them to attend conferences, build their network through contacts and work closely with them to solve problems. I believe integrity goes beyond what we do on paper and encompasses the dignity with which we treat those we work with, especially our junior colleagues. I Laura I see a not only a star, but a bright torch that sets alight the torch of curiosity in students and encourages them to grow and follow their dreams. Her embodiment of the core values promoted by the Minerva Leadership Award – honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage – is truly remarkable”.

Congratulations once again to Laura, and thank you for all your worthy nominations!

Annual Retreat 2024

Time to sign up for the yearly Future Faculty Retreat which will be held on April 11th at Flädie Mat & Vingård, just outside Lund.

The topic of this year’s retreat is “Bursting the bubble – Counteracting isolation by connecting researchers“.

We believe that the pressure that many early career researchers are under can sometimes cause us to become isolated and discuss science only within our ‘bubble’.

This retreat will focus on us, the researchers, and how we can connect with each other across research groups and discuss and enjoy the fun and creative aspects of our work.

We are excited to announce the keynote speaker (albeit via zoom) Itai Yanai, co-host of the ‘Night Science’ podcast who will give a talk about the creative thinking process he refers to as night science.

A preliminary schedule can be found here.
Sign up here before March 27th. Attendance is limited so sign up right away!
