Exploring X-ray science for your research
Curious about what MAX IV can do for your project — but unsure where to start? Join us for a Future Faculty & MAX IV Laboratory roundtable focused on how to harness X-ray science to answer real research questions.
Whether you work with biological tissue, materials, cells, batteries, proteins, cultural heritage, catalysts (or anything in between), this session is designed to help you translate “I’ve heard MAX IV is powerful” into clear ideas, realistic sample strategies, and next steps.
What we’ll explore
At the roundtable, we’ll focus on practical questions researchers often have when approaching MAX IV:
- How can you harness the X-ray power of MAX IV for your research?
What kinds of problems are a good match for synchrotron methods, and how to think about feasibility. - What kinds of samples can be measured?
Sample formats, preparation considerations, and what typically works well (and what can be tricky). - Why: what research questions can MAX IV help answer?
From mapping, structure, and chemistry, to mechanisms and dynamics.

This event is ideal for postdocs and early-career researchers who:
- have a project that could benefit from high-resolution or advanced X-ray methods,
- want to explore techniques before writing a proposal,
- are already planning beamtime and want a clearer strategy,
